2011 GRAPE/JUICE DISTRIBUTION SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED!

Dear Washington Winemakers,

Our Saturday October 15, 2011 Grape/Juice Distribution at Villa Rosa in Mitchellville, Maryland was a grand success.
First of all, I would like single out Jim Gearing for all his orchestration of the receipt and distribution process. Through Jim's efforts we have made a vast improvement to the distribution and accountability process. Jim spent many hours ensuring the success of the entire process.
Michael Colavito, our California distributor, deserves a "thank you", for his excellent service and loyalty to the Holy Rosary Church Washington Winemakers Association.

FRIDAY NIGHT SET UP TEAM
Hats Off to A Great Team Effort
The individuals listed below worked diligently Friday night setting up the distribution process that included off loading and storing the grapes.
Nick Ferrente, Jim Gearing, Mike Baccala, Bill Berl, Vince Marinucci, Oz (Osvaldo) Barsi, and Carlos Gonzalez. Very Special thanks and deepest appreciation to Mike Baccala. Mike spent the night in his truck providing security for the grapes and juice.

SATURDAY TEAM
Jim Gearing, Nick Ferrente, Cristina Vignola, Maria Villarubia. Cristina son and Maria's family helped out immeasurable. Jim Gearing conducted a complete inventory of the grape and and juice order on Friday and found everything we ordered was delivered.
We had a few errors in receiving and transcribing orders and we will have additional procedures next year to deal with those few problems. I Apologize to our members that were impacted by those several errors. There were two instances of "orders lost in mail", and 3 instances of order form errors.
This year we served 51 winemakers. We had winemakers coming in from Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and West Virginia and Northern and Southern Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Our next major event will be our annual wine tasting event at Holy Rosary Casa Italiana that will be held in March 2012.

  • Our wine grape delivery and distribution occurred on time SATURDAY OCTOBER 10TH, 2009, on the grounds of Villa Rosa in Mitchellville, MD.
With the help of many of the members of the Washington Winemakers, we were able to unload and distribute a great quantity of grapes, efficiently, and quickly, enabling all to rush back home and start making the 2009 wine.
Our Washington area winemakers' association is really growing, and in fact, we now have more than 70 families and single members among the Washington Winemakers who made this group purchase possible.
We are extremely grateful to Father Lydio Tomasi, the head (il Capo) of Villa Rosa, the Scalabrinian Mission in Mitchellville, Maryland that allowed us to stage our grape and juice delivery under their pavilion. Very, Very Special thanks to Nicola Ferrante, Vince Ionata, and many others, for their coordination and pitching in to make sure the grapes were delivered into our hands.
New features added this year for the benefit of the Washington Winemakers are an automatic crusher-destemmer, and two presses, all operated at the grape delivery site of Villa Rosa.
